Original Music
In 1980, Guy began a spiritual musical journey that continues to this day: using music to uplift and inspire, and have some fun while doing it. He performed in the original music group “Kalos” in the Philadelphia area from ’80-’82, has been on the folk music coffee house circuit, performed and recorded with the original group “Earth and the 21st”, and continues recording original material with outstanding musicians in the greater Detroit area. (Not to mention his extensive solo Chautauqua Express Musical Programs.) “To me, all of life is essentially spiritual. It follows for me that original music comes from a spiritual source. These may be in the form of simple songs, acoustic blues, rock, folk, new age or any other style you might want to name. All music is an avenue for the muse to inspire, and I’ll flow with all styles as they come to me.” While Guy rarely performs in bars or nightclubs, there are events where he presents full programs of his original music. Still, if you see him perform live in schools or for community concerts, you’ll most often also hear selections from his original repertoire... the beat of a different drum.
“The musician would like to express some of the wonderful
things he knows of and senses in the universe.”
John Coltrane
